Kaputas Beach: Antalya's Turquoise Hideaway

Hidden between the districts of Kas and Kalkan in Antalya, Kaputas Beach is one of Turkey's most photographed coves. Formed where a canyon meets the sea, this small yet spectacular beach enchants visitors with its turquoise colour and fine sand.
Where is Kaputas Beach?
The beach sits just below the D400 coastal road between Kas and Kalkan, about 20 kilometres from the centre of Kas. A roadside viewing terrace lets you take in the whole cove from above before heading down.
How to get to the beach
To reach the shore you descend a stairway of 187 steps from the roadside. The way down is quick, but remember it is a steady climb back up; comfortable shoes and a bottle of water make it far easier.

Why is the water so cool?
Kaputas owes its crystal-clear water not only to the sea but also to underground spring water flowing from the canyon. As a result, the sea stays refreshingly cool even on the hottest summer days.
The Blue Cave nearby
Just around the cove, the Blue Cave is one of the area's favourite stops, glowing with blue light as sunlight reflects through the water. It is usually visited on boat tours departing from Kas or Kalkan.

When to visit
The best season runs from late spring to early autumn (May to October). As the cove is small and very popular, arriving early in the morning is the best way to claim a comfortable spot on the sand.
