Villa Lapis

Villa Lapis is a private rental villa in the Kalamar Bay of Kalkan, sized for large families and groups of friends. From the terraces and bedrooms facing the bay, the blue cove of Kalamar, the islands opposite and the open-sea horizon stretch out from end to end.

With its white cubic lines and walnut cladding accents, the villa follows a modern line and is resolved inside as an open plan; the living room, open kitchen and dining area come together in a single double-height volume. Navy velvet upholstery and walnut textures give the interior a warm base, while a suspended staircase with a steel balustrade links the floors.

Location and View

The villa sits on a slope in the Kalamar district of Kalkan, close to the centre yet drawn back from the busier streets. From almost every room and terrace you see the bay of Kalkan, the islands opposite and the open sea; in the evening the lights of Kalkan town appear along the cove below. Because of the hillside setting the sea view is wide and unobstructed, while the descent to the beach is more comfortable by car.

Bedrooms

Bedroom 1 (Upper Floor) — Master. Double bed, a walnut slatted headboard wall and navy-toned décor; it has a floor-to-ceiling glazed front with a balcony opening to the bay of Kalkan, a hanging swing seat by the window and a private bathroom with a travertine finish.

Bedroom 2 (Upper Floor) — Master. Double bed, a round backlit mirror and macramé wall hangings; it has a glazed front with a panoramic sea view, a private balcony facing the sea and a private bathroom with a shower cabin.

Bedroom 3 (Upper Floor) — Double bed, oriental-patterned textiles and a floor-cushion seating corner; it stands apart with an in-room jacuzzi facing the sea and a private bathroom.

Bedroom 4 (Entrance Floor) — Double bed, a walnut slatted headboard wall; it has sliding glass doors opening to a private pergola-shaded terrace with a sea view, and a private bathroom.

Bedroom 5 (Entrance Floor) — Two single beds, a cheerful décor in orange and navy tones; with its sea-view window and private bathroom it suits younger guests.

Pool and Garden

The large open swimming pool sits at the centre of the terrace, with an infinity edge reaching towards the sea and a wooden sunbathing platform within it; around it are sun loungers, a lounge in the shade of a pergola and a long dining setting, along with a curtained canopy bed and swing seats. One corner of the stone-walled garden is set aside for outdoor games. The roof terrace, with its bar counter and a jacuzzi facing the view, adds its own pleasure to the later hours of the day.

Points to Note

• Kalkan is a settlement built on a hillside; access to the villa is uphill and the surrounding streets are narrow.

• The villa has several levels; stairs must be used between the floors and the roof terrace, which may not suit guests with limited mobility.

• The property sits close to neighbouring villas on both sides; complete privacy around the pool and terraces cannot be guaranteed.

• The descent to the beach is more comfortable by car than on foot; as public transport in the area is limited, a hire car or transfer is recommended.
